24th  July 2008 - All the horses are back in the yard now. Preparations for a long season (hopefully!) are underway. The horses have summered well and most have their new shoes on ready to start the gradual progression to race fitness. There are no short cuts and the horses must build up muscle & tone before stepping up the work. Some have come back in with weight to lose whilst others are reasonably trim.

18th July 2008

Clemax WON at Cartmel yesterday! In a typically gutsy performance he led most of the way, was headed at the last but fought back to win by half a length- his 4th win for us. What a tough boy he is. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury so we are taking good care of him at home today.

Shares in our new horse Pistol Basc are on sale now... & only three remain. See Shares Available page for details of this & other shares for sale in DPRP horses (Anglican)

June 2008

Clemax ran in the Perth Gold Cup today. He ran well enough, jumped great and gave his all as usual. The rain though, had arrived a couple of hours too early for us and he finished 10th. Goes to Cartmel 17th July hopefully.

22nd May 2008

Clemax ran under a penalty at Stratford  in the 3m3f handicap hurdle. Sam Thomas replaced the injured Graham Lee. Clemax ran his usual solid race but was unable to dominate as he had done at Perth. Finished 6th

14th May 2008

Clemax WON the 3m handicap hurdle at Perth last night. Graham Lee gave him a cracking, front running ride. He was headed at the second last but fought back to win by 3/4 length. Well done indeed! This was Clem's 3rd win for us, to go with his 4 seconds and 2 thirds! Mr Consistent.

1st May 2008

Kalmo Bay ran well to finish 3rd. Ground had slightly gone against him but a mistake at the last probably denied him a real hand in the finish. He has won 2 and been placed in 3 of his 7 chases.

29th April 2008

We ran 2 horses in the Durham National at Sedgefield on 29th April. Lucky Nellerie ran an absolute blinder to finish 2nd, well clear of the rest of the field.. Despite already winning 4 races for us, this was arguably his best performance to date. Delray Beach ran on late but never landed a blow. she needs 4m and soft ground to really sparkle.

21st April 2008

Rich Lord was well in contention when he fell 3 out at Sedgefield. Strange fall as he did not seem to make any kind of mistake. Horse & rider ok.

18th April 2008

Clemax ran well at Cheltenham. Jumped great but he needs handicapper to help him out with a pound or two.  Galant Nuit had the ground go against him up at Ayr.

26th March 2008 - Kalmo Bay was 2nd at Newcastle. In a silly, slow run race he couldn't get into a rhythm. Picked up 2nd place though.

15th March 2008

Galant Nuit ran well at Newcastle today, finishing 3rd. The race was run at a dawdle & so even at 2m4f, his stamina didn't really come into play.

9th March 2008

Aces Four ran over hurdles at Market Rasen. He came out of the race well & heads for Aintree.

8th March 2008

Anglican ran flat at Carlisle  & needs a break. Delray Beach unseated at Ayr.

2nd March 2008

Galant Nuit ran well again at  Kelso on Saturday finishing 4th. Needs stepping up in trip.

Clemax was tapped for toe at Bangor today(finished 6th)

26th Feb 2008

Lucky Nellerie was below par in the Kent National at Folkestone today. He went well for 2 circuits but never really got to dominate as he had done at Catterick.

13th Feb 2008

Kalmo Bay was a WINNER at Musselburgh . He jumped really well and came with a very well timed run to lead after the last and score by 2 lengths. Super ride from Tom Dreaper. This was Kalmo's 2nd chase success of the season and quickish ground seems important to him.

Rich Lord was 5th. In hindsight, top weight, on quick ground, first time in a handicap and against some Musselburgh specialists was a big ask. He is fine though and remains a nice prospect.

6th Feb 2008

Delray Beach ran ok in 6th at Sedgefield. Weight stops trains and so it proved today. Her track record remains one to be proud of though; 12 races, 3 wins, 3 2nds and completed 11/12.

1st,0,0 2nd,2nd,2nd,4th,1st,3rd,1st,P,0.

  3rd Feb 2008

Deja Vu is back from the wilderness! He was 3rd today in his first run for 300 days and after time off with an injury.

2nd Feb 2008

Clemax was running a big race at Doncaster until Tom felt that he had gone wrong and sensibly pulled him up. He seems fine now though.

1st Feb 2008

Rich Lord a very impressive winner on just his 4th start for us.Two 3rds & a win so far...and he is still learning!

30th Jan 2008

Anglican ran slightly below par at Newcastle. This was his first UK run and the ground was plenty fast enough for him.

Clemax, Deja Vu & Rich Lord hold entries next week.

26th Jan 2008

Galant Nuit ran well (5th) Doncaster. He was last turning in, 13th at the second last & was a staying on 5th. Maturing all the time & a step up in trip will see him to good effect.

18th Jan 2008 Lucky Nellerie  ran a blinder in the North Yorkshire National at Catterick He led from start to finish and ran out a very gutsy 3l winner! Well done Nelly!

Clemax was pulled up after blundering the 2nd. He is fine though.

12th Jan 2008

Rich Lord ran really at Kelso yesterday. Settled & jumped nicely to finish 3rd behind 2 smart horses.

2nd Jan 2008

Kalmo Bay hated the ground at Ayr and was pulled up.

29th Dec 07

Luzenie ran ok at Haydock today(5th). she will need further in time.

19th Dec 07

Kalmo Bay ran well at Bangor today (4th) but probably needs either a stiffer track or further.

14th Dec 07

Weather beat us twice this week.....including in a farcical situation at Huntingdon. I arrived at 9am & there was never a chance the meeting could be on..yet the course passed an inspection at 10.30 only to fail another at noon!!

9th Dec 07

Neither Lucky Nellerie nor Delray Beach troubled the judge in the Kelso Borders National.

5th Dec 07

Clemax won at Catterick yesterday.New, leading tactics were employed to very good effect by Tom Dreaper. tom rode out his claim on the horse so well done to both!

30th Nov 07

Luzenie ran ok at Newcastle today but will improve for the run - her first in the UK.

28th Nov 07

Galant Nuit finished 4th,beaten under 3 lengths, on his UK debut today. Most encouraging. Jumped really well.

27th Nov 07

Rich Lord ran very well at Sedgefield, finishing a close up 3rd in only his second hurdle race. Very encouraging.

22nd Nov 07

Fabulous day at Hexham with two winners from 3 runners!

Delray Beach won the £40K Northumberland National. Given an absolutely wonderful ride by Graham Lee she stayed well and battled through the mud to gain a career best win. Great day enjoyed by all the partners. Delray's chase record for us now reads 224131 - what a tough, genuine little mare she is!

Pakineo Des Pictons won on his racecourse debut. Ridden out with hands & heels only he won the bumper in good style and with little fuss. He looks smart. a great day for his new owners!

Kalmo Bay was 5th in the novices handicap chase, perhaps found out by the heavy ground. Jumped well again and returned home well & happy.

18th Nov 07

Lucky Nellerie ran well for a circuit before tiring on his seasonal debut at Carlisle.

17th Nov 07

Clemax ran ok on his seasonal debut (4th at Wetherby) but was perhaps a little outpaced on the good-firm ground. Will benefit from the run though.

10th Nov 07

Kalmo Bay WON yesterday at Hexham. Making his chase debut he jumped superbly to beat a field of more experienced rivals. He should improve for the run and we are delighted with him. A win on only his 4th start for us. Special mention to Seve who rides him a fair bit at home, Niall who found a nice race for him and Gerard Tumelty who rode a perfect race on him. Well done Team Murphy!

6th Nov07

Aces Four has been nominated for Outstanding Novice Chaser of 06/07 in the ROA/Racing Post awards of 2007. In what would be a mouth watering race, he takes on stable mate Another Promise, Denman & My Way De Solzen. The result of the ROA members vote will be announced on 6th Dec 07.

3rd Nov07Aces Four was pulled up after tiring in the Charlie Hall Chase. It had been well documented that he would need the run so the good jumping was pleasing enough. welcome back Ace! Betfair Chase at Haydock (24th Nov) a distinct possibility for him now.

2nd Nov07

Delray Beach ran a great race, her first of the season, at Wetherby in the 3m2f chase. She jumped well for Keith Mercer and stayed on to finish 3rd. she will improve for that too.

Lucky Nellerie & Clemax, were both balloted out of their intended runs at Carlisle on Sunday..we need some rain!

We retired Haut De Gamme last year & he is pictured below enjoying his new regime (he is on the left). He is being wonderfully cared for at a farm local to Wynbury and is very happy with his lot!

Aintree 27th Oct

Rich Lord did well in his hurdles debut today. He jumped accurately and looked like getting involved in this class 2 event until blowing up 2 furlongs out. Tom Dreaper & Ferdy delighted. Good start for this lad.

9th Oct

Colder weather, shorter days, horses schooling & the Racing Post stable tours have started. Don't you just love this time of year?!!

DPRP horses all in full training and looking good. Clemax & Aces schooled really well last week as did the youngsters Rich Lord & Galant Nuit.

4th Oct 2007

Work is stepping up now with many of the horses having had their first schooling session of the new season. Youngsters Rich Lord & Galant Nuit schooled well and (with some relief) it is good to know that Aces Four re-schooled satisfactorily. Videos of & new pics of many of the horses appear on the relevant pages on the website.

2nd Oct 2007

Lee Mottershead of the Racing Post/ATR has joined us for this season & will be writing regular features for our newsletter!2nd Aug 2007

All of the horses returned to training at Wynbury during July. They are mostly doing light conditioning work now to take off a bit of weight and to build up stamina. This involves some roadwork (walking on the roads & lanes) and some light trotting and cantering at home on the gallops.

It is very important to have the horses physically ready to take the rigours of what can be an eight month season. There are no shortcuts to race fitness and even with Ferdy’s meticulous attention to detail, great facilities and obvious experience, most of the horses will improve for the first run of the season.

28th July 2007

Luzenie & Delray Beach returned to training today.

5th July 2007  Aces Four, Nine De Sivola, Kalmo Bay, Galant Nuit & Pakineo Des Pictons all back in training now. In fact everyone is back except the girls!! .

3rd July 2007 Lucky Nellerie, Clemax and Deja Vu were the first to return to the yard after the "summer" break. The weather really has been atrocious and the intended break to get some sun on the backs of the horses has not been as we had planned. The other horses will return over next fortnight or so and then begin the preparations for the autumn and winter campaign.

Aces Four was 4th in the Champion Novice Chaser category in the  Anglo-Irish Jump Awards 2006/7. The winner was Denman who finished in front of My way De Solzen, Twist Magic and Aces Four.

29th April 2007

What a great season 2006/07 was! Keep watching for a full review of the season but both Ferdy Murphy and DPRP had tremendous seasons.

Ferdy Murphy finished 7th in the Trainers Championship with 61 winners and £900K prize money. He picked up two winners at Cheltenham, one at Aintree, one at Punchestown + the Scottish National and the Whitbread!

DPRP horses won 9 races from 53 starts (17%). We also had an amazing 11 second  places! In total we finished in the prize money in a staggering 55% of our races.

28th April 2007

Aces Four is much happier now and seems to be making a good recovery. Thanks for all of your messages.

27th April 2007

Lucky Nellerie plugged on to finish the 3m7f trip in 7th place. Sticky, patchy ground was no use to him. He ends season with 3 great wins to his credit.

25th April 2007

Clemax was caught out by patchy ground at Perth today. He ran in snatches to finish 5th.

24th April 2007

Aces Four had the race won at Punchestown before a horrible, crushing last fence fall. Although sore and stiff, Aces appears to be ok and he lives to fight another day.

21st April 2007

Nine De Sivola ran another blinder to finish a very close second to stablemate Hot Weld in the Scottish National!

Remarkably, Nine De Sivola finishes his first chasing season without a win, but with 5 second places and over £100K prize money to his name. Lets not forget just how exceptional it is for a 6yo novice to finish second in The Eider, The Irish National and the Scottish National in the space of 10 weeks. A remarkable horse, trained to perfection. NDS is on a well earned summer break now!

15th April 2007

Lucky Nellerie won at Kelso today. You can only beat what turns up & in Nelleries case, that was just one other horse (Roobihoo)! Sent off at 1/5, Lucky Nellerie jumped well to secure his 3rd win of the season.

13th April 2007

Aces Four won the valuable Mildmay novice chase at Aintree today. Facing several of those he faced at Cheltenham he absolutely bolted up and looks a real  star. Timeform comment  "a cracking performance, which was once again founded on a fine round of jumping; ...... 14 lengths up at the last and eased across the line". a fabulous day for the owners who have enjoyed 6 wins from 10 runs!

10th April 2007

Nine De Sivola ran a blinder to finish 2nd in the  Powers Irish National on Easter Monday. Given (yet another) brilliant waiting ride by Graham Lee, he jumped into 2nd at the last but couldn't peg back Cheltenham winner Butlers Cabin. a marvellous effort from a horse still only a 6yo and, remarkably, yet to win a chase!!

All DPRP members have now  been issued with the UK Racing Club discount card free of charge...see www.ukrcdiscount.com for details.

7th April 2007

Deja Vu ran flat at Carlisle today.

25th March - Kalmo Bay was 4th at Southwell. He saw out the 2m4f trip well enough on quick ground. This was a decent effort, particularly as he burst a blood vessel. More to come from him.

March 2007 CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL REVIEW

We may not have won either of our two races at Cheltenham but our horses certainly did themselves proud. In the Royal and Sun Alliance chase, only one horse could live with Denman's relentless gallop and jumping and that was our own ACES FOUR. Going to the third last, both horses were travelling very quickly and both were looking full of running. Aces though, stumbled badly on landing and Graham did brilliantly to stay on board. The stumble was purely down to speed and it stole momentum from Aces. He plugged on after that and was just denied third place on the line. A run full of toughness and  ability...we couldn't have been more proud of him!

In the 4m NH Chase eventually won by Butlers Cabin. NINE DE SIVOLA moved menacingly to the front 3 out. However he took a fall at the fence and so we will never know how close he would have gone. Certainly he was still full of running and, if anything, over jumped that fence.

So no winners but two very decent runs. Ferdy had wins with L'Antartique and Joes Edge and it was a tremendous festival - Kauto Star, Sublimity, Voy Pur Ustedes and Inglis Drever the feature race champions.

Best news of the week came on Friday when both our horses were checked by vet and chiropractor and found to be safe & sound. Well done boys!

10th Mar 2007 -

2 winners today! Clemax and Delray Beach make it a double

Clemax got his much deserved win for us today. A race record that reads 4322230020 spells consistency but today he added a great win! In testing conditions at Ayr, he was given a gem of a ride by Graham Lee in the 3m novice handicap hurdle. Off the bridle 3 out, Clemax  battled under a determined ride to get upsides Kealshore Lad at the last and then went clear. Another fabulous team effort from Ferdy Murphy, Niall Hannity, Graham Lee and of course the horse.

Not to be outdone, Delray Beach , won the very next race! She stayed well and jumped best of the 5 in the 3m5f handicap chase. With Graham Lee again riding an intelligent race to get home in very testing conditions, Delray went clear 2 out to win by 4 lengths. This tough little mare has won on firm ground over hurdles at 2m4f and heavy ground over fences at 3m5f- now that's versatility!

Haut De Gamme ran his heart out but couldn't strike a blow in his race. We have decided to retire this grand old servant. Well done Ginge - enjoy the rest!

4th Mar 2007 -  Real hard luck story yesterday when  Lucky Nellerie fell when going really well 4 out in the Borders National. Horse & jockey ok so no harm done. Kalmo Bay ran an encouraging race in the juvenile event, travelling well until making a mistake 2 out. Haut De Gammes intended run at Southwell was beaten by the rain.

 24th Feb 2007

Nine De Sivola ran an absolute cracker when finishing 2nd in the Eider Chase today at Newcastle. Under a quite brilliant waiting ride from Graham Lee, NDS jumped well throughout and went to the front two fences from home. He couldn't hold off the late challenge of Gold Cup/Grand National entrant Nil Desperandum but lost nothing in defeat Well done NDS  but this was a really good team effort - well done to Niall Hannity who suggested this race 2 months ago, to Ferdy for preparing the horse brilliantly and Graham Lee for a great ride.

1st Feb 2007

Deja Vu ran another satisfactory race at Newcastle yesterday.

28th Jan 2007- Kelso

Lucky Nellerie WON today!. He jumped brilliantly and stayed the 3m4f trip without a problem to win by 16 lengths. Another super ride from a jockey destined for the top- PJ McDonald. Lucky Nellerie pulled up on his chase debut but his subsequent 3 runs have yielded two wins and a second. Well done Nell!

Kalmo Bay made his debut for us today but was unfortunately pulled up. He looked a picture beforehand and travelled and jumped ok until the latter part of race when he emptied quickly. We know he is better than that, having already won a race in France.

17 Jan 2007 Clemax was a bit disappointing today, running a flat sort of race finishing 5th. He appeared sound afterwards so either we ran him too soon or he simply had an off day.

12 Jan 2007

Delray Beach ran pretty well at Kelso(2nd). she needs further but this race was a decent target. She beat the odds on fav but was beaten by a horse finding a lot of improvement. 2nd for her third consecutive race! Her complete record for us is impressive- 160222

2nd Jan Ayr

Lucky Nellerie jumped well but was unable to completely dominate as he had last time. He finished 2nd.

The last month or so has seen us have 11 runners, 2 winners and six 2nds!

01 Jan 07 Catterick

Nine De Sivola ran another good race but again found one too good. He was 2nd , but this was a welcome return to form. Slightly disappointed that he could not quicken after the last, but he will win his chase soon.

30th Dec 06

Clemax ran well at t Haydock on finishing 2nd in the 2m7f handicap hurdle. He will be winning soon, especially over a longer trip.

26th Dec 06

Delray Beach ran a fantastic chase debut finishing 2nd to the very decent Echo Point. She needs a bit further but is proving a very tough little filly.

Haut De Gamme ran flat at Wetherby and we probably ran him again too soon after Haydock.

17th Dec 06

Haut De Gamme ran well at Haydock but he doesn't truly get 3 miles and on testing ground, he didn't last home. He did though, jump with his usual zest and was given a super ride by PJ McDonald, finishing in 7th place.

12th Dec 06

Deja Vu made a satisfactory seasonal return  at Sedgefield on Dec 12th.

8th Dec 06

Aces Four ran a blinder at Cheltenham, finishing 2nd on ground softer than ideal. He jumped well again, travelled sweetly in front and only tired on the run in when the conditions took their toll. This was another good performance and Aces Four is looking special.

5th Dec 06

Great day at Sedgefield today - with a winner and a second from our two runners!

Lucky Nellerie 1st -  ran in the 3m3f chase and led from start to finish to run out a 30 length winner. He settled beautifully this time and jumped  everything out of the race. Huge amount of credit to PJ McDonald who has put days of work into this horse. Well done PJ and well done Smelly!!

Delray Beach 2nd - by the time of the last race, the ground was virtually unraceable, the rain heavy and the light fading. No bother to this tough little filly though who shouldered a big weight to 2nd place . Another fantastic effort from Dela!

25th Nov 06

Aces Four won again at Newcastle today. On only his third start over fences, he jumped brilliantly and again led from start to finish. Graham Lee gave him a good positive ride on ground softer than ideal. Ferdy Murphy was delighted with the impressive, authoritative win. Aces probably goes to Kempton next for the Feltham Chase on Boxing Day. His record for us reads 1131F11.

23rd Nov 06 Uttoxeter

Weight stops trains and today it stopped Delray Beach. She is too high in the handicap having won a little mares race at Hexham. She is rated 110.

Lucky Nellerie pulled up on his chase debut. Top weight on heavy ground was a big ask but he actually jumped well until tiring. PJ sensibly pulled him up

22nd Nov 06

Nine De Sivola  ran a plucky race to finish 4th at Wetherby but we know he is better than that. He never really travelled. Needs to be freshened up.

19th Nov 06

Drama at Aintree, as we lost our jockey Graham Lee an hour before the race. Graham was stood down after a heavy fall but, thankfully, will be ok in a day or two. Richie McGrath took the ride and brought HDG home safely.  Haut De Gamme was disappointing though. He jumped ok but didn't really give his true running here.

12th Nov 06

Clemax ran a a flat, weak race today at Carlisle. He is much better than that and will now be rested and freshened up.

10th Nov 06

Aces Four won at Newcastle today. On only his second start over fences, he jumped brilliantly and led from start to finish. Graham Lee gave him a good positive ride and Ferdy Murphy was delighted with the impressive, authoritative win.

6th Nov 06

Lucky Nellerie ran a decent race today, finishing 4th at Carlisle. He settled well (once in front!) and jumped in good style. He was outpaced on the home turn but ran on again to finish 4th.With experience and fitness being gained all the time, this fella has put in a good weeks work.

3rd Nov 06

Nine de Sivola was 3rd at Hexham, beaten by smart pair The Reverend and One Sniff. In truth, this was a shade disappointing and we probably ran him again too soon after Wetherby. However, he appears sound and will have his day in the sun!

29th Oct 06

Clemax ran a sound enough race at Carlisle but was unable to take a hand in the finish. He returned safe and sound in 7th and there will be other days for him.

27th Oct 06

Nine de Sivola was a very good second at Wetherby., beaten by a Jonjo O'Neill/JP McManus horse. He jumped really well and enjoyed the easy going. He will find opportunities.

Lucky Nellerie made an encouraging debut for us on the same card - 8th of 19 in a race won by the £300K Tidal Bay. After diving at the first, he settled well and hurdled fluently. An extended trip on soft ground looks to be his requirement.

24th Oct 06

Delray Beach ran at Cheltenham finishing 6th. She was stepping up markedly in class and found the challenge a tough one. She is still only a 4yo and will find plenty of easier opportunities.

20th Oct 06

Haut De Gamme made a super re-appearance over hurdles at Aintree finishing 5th under top weight. The Becher Chase is next for him.

20th Oct 06

Aces Four  fell on his chase debut at Fakenham. Thankfully he is ok. Ironically, he had jumped really well until the last fence when tiredness on his seasonal re-appearance caused him to make mistake. Grahm Lee was very happy and we are pleased to have got a good run into him, given the paucity of opportunities for staying novice chasers.

18th Oct 06

Nine De Sivola ran slightly disappointingly at Worcester finishing 5th. However his fitness will improve for this seasonal debut and its a measure of the regard we hold him in when a 5th place is disappointing. Keep watching!

8th Oct 06

Clemax 3rd- ran well on his seasonal debut( Bangor on Dee Sat 7th Oct.) He jumped well in the 3m H'cap chase and looked the winner at the second last as a group of 3 horses left the rest behind. However, lack of a recent run told and he was unable to overcome the two much lighter weighted horses. Race was run at a good gallop, on ground faster than ideal and he will improve fitness wise. A very satisfactory re-appearance and another placed finish for Clemax! His race record for us now reads 432223.

29 Sep 06

DELRAY BEACH WON on debut for us today!

"This is a tough, consistent young horse, with winning form and yet sure to improve with the move to Ferdy Murphy.  "

That is what we said over the summer and then:

On ground that was an unknown to her and with classy Knockara Luck in the race, Delray Beach drifted from 4s to8s. However, she didn't know what price she was! She looked really well in the paddock and was given a superb ride by Graham Lee. As the other jockeys "got busy", Graham held her together until the second last before asking her to go on. She kicked away and asserted quickly. a tough, genuine performance from a super little mare. Great day out for all partners - who were there in force to give her the biggest cheer of the afternoon!

12th Sep 06

Members of the , Haut De Gamme, Nine De Sivola, Clemax, Aces Four, Delray Beach, Lucky Nellerie and DejaVu partnerships visited the yard on Saturday 2nd September. A guided tour of the yard took in the gallops, exercise ring, indoor school, colours room etc. Bacon sandwiches and coffee was then provided before we watched all nine DPRP horses on the gallops. Then, each horse was made available for photographs etc. The morning finished with an opportunity to see the horses at play, rolling in the indoor school. A great day. New video of Clemax, NDS, Deja Vu, Haut De Gamme and Delray is now loaded on their individual pages.

Aug 2006

All nine DPRP horses are back in training after a summer break.

19 July 2006

The horses are starting to come back in from the field now and starting light conditioning work.

It has been a fantastic summer for the horses, with good strong grass growth providing great feed. The sun has got the coats looking fantastic and only hard work and luck is required now!

June 06

Following the success of our 3 previous French bought horses (Nine De Sivola, Haut De Gamme and Clemax) we have been back to France for  more;

Punchestown Friday 28st April

Haut De Gamme ran at Punchestown Friday 28 April in a 3m banks race , the Kildare Hunt Club steeplechase. Hating the dry ground, Ginge never really got into this and made uncharacteristic mistakes. He will have a well deserved break now.

Perth Thursday 27th April

Aces Four won at Perth today!  This was a 3m novice hurdle for the Perth Hunt Balnakeilly Cup. This old fashioned cup has been won in the past 3 years by Monets Garden, Brooklyn Breeze and Trisons Star. Aces got his preferred good ground and won decisively under Keith Mercer . Aces Four record for us now reads;1st,1st,3rd,1st...some horse!

   Ayr Friday 21st April

Clemax ran another blinder in the 3m3f handicap chase finishing 2nd...again! This was his third 2nd place in a row and he really deserves to get his head in front. Here, under a positive Tony Dobbin ride, he jumped really well and stayed every yard of the trip. He was well clear of the remainder and looks a highly promising staying chaser in the making...still just a 5yo. Form figures of 4th,3rd,2nd,2nd,2nd tell of his consistency and a win won't be far away.

Aces Four ran a little below his previous high level and finished 3rd in the 3m novice handicap hurdle. In truth the ground had been too softened by the 5mm rain on Thursday and he does need good ground. Two wins and a third is not a bad start for this lad though!

Carlisle Sat April 15th

Clemax ran well when finishing 2nd. In a  3m 0-130 Handicap Chase worth £20K shown live on Channel 4, he was second only to Undeniable, who was 3rd in the Kim Muir on his last run. Clemax jumped accurately and efficiently and looks a real stayer in the making as he made up many lengths up the severe hill at Carlisle. Very pleasing run from this 5yo.

HAUT DE GAMME - GRAND NATIONAL 2006

pictures on Haut De Gamme page

Haut De Gamme is back safe and sound from his spin in the National. He gave Keith a huge thrill for 19 fences and looked to be going well as they set out on the second circuit. He fell at the 20th but has returned fit & healthy, bar the loss of a shoe and a few scratches

HdeG parades at Aintree 2006 and is washed down after his run in the Grand National

Fantastic experience for all partners - well done Ginge!

Aces Four won again at Ayr, 23rd March

Having already won on his debut for us ( 22nd Feb, Ludlow) Aces Four followed up at Ayr winning by 14 lengths hard held. This horse is very classy and very versatile. Next stop will be Cheltenham, Ayr or Punchestown. Ferdy is delighted with him...and believes that he will be even better over fences!

Nine De Sivola ran well at the 2006 Cheltenham Festival. Running against experienced handicappers in a race run at a furious pace was always going to be a tough assignment for a novice. He ran well for a long way but couldn't maintain the fast gallop for the full 3 miles. He enjoyed himself, as did all of the owners! A fantastic season from this lad- 8 runs, 4 wins and a Cheltenham Festival appearance. He will have a break now before going novice chasing.

Clemax -ran a great race to finish 2nd at  Chepstow on Sat 11th March. PJ McDonald settled him in mid division and the step up in trip to 3m seemed ideal for Clemax. Paul Nicholls' 1/4 shot Geeveem and Clemax soon pulled clear of the rest. Clemax went down by 6l but this was a super performance. He is improving with each run and we hope that he can continue the sequence in his form figures for us so far; 4th, 3rd, 2nd.....!!

22nd February

Aces Four won at Ludlow  on his debut for us!! He jumped perfectly and won easily by 7 lengths...and shares are available!! We have been saying on this site for weeks that "he is highly likely to have improvement in him". That statement was proven today... and he will go on further from here. What a fantastic start for his new owners...see below and get involved NOW!

Aces Four joins our roll call of winners - Haut De Gamme, Nine De Sivola, Deja Vu, Has Scored.

Saturday 18 February

Our three runners at Uttoxeter today finished 3rd, 5th and 5th.Star billing went to third placed Clemax but ground and weight beat Haut De Gamme and Nine De Sivola.

Clemax went  in the novice hurdle. After a long lay off and on very sticky ground, this promised to be a stamina sapping task for Clemax. However, he travelled well for a long way, jumped brilliantly and looked likely to win jumping the last. He then tired but was beaten less than 3 lengths into 3rd. A great comeback after his promising 4th last time and he will improve for this. Well done Clem!

Nine De Sivola went  in the£20K Betfred Final Handicap Hurdle over 3m. He had an enormous amount of weight to concede - over a stone to the winner. Despite the huge weight he also ran well before the weight stopped him. 4 wins from 7 for him is great form and he lost little in finishing 5th in this. He deserves a short break now before Cheltenham.

Haut De Gamme went in the £50K Singer and Friedlander Chase 2m6f. Ground conditions had looked like being suitable for all him but an overnight slight frost combined with sunshine made the ground sticky - his worst surface. A shower would have helped him. In the event he jumped well (bar the first!) and ran a good race to finish 5th. Grand National next for him and he will go there fresh and bouncing.

Bohemian Brook ran poorly at Sedgefield 6 Feb. He never get competitive and so we will take a look at him in next few days. He appears sound though.

Jan 14th 2006 TWO RUNNERS- TWO WINNERS!

Nine De Sivola  won the  Pertemps Handicap Hurdle, live on Channel 4. This was a step up for our novice  NDS but given a great ride by PJ McDonald he ran out a 2 length winner from His Nibs and Korelo. The horse is improving fast and that was his 4th win in 9 weeks! We will have to consider the Cheltenham Festival now!

10 minutes later, Haut De Gamme took the 2m4f handicap hurdle at Wetherby. Amateur Gerard Tumelty gave the horse a confident ride to win on Ginge's favourite rain softened ground. Fantastic "bonus" race for us as the main target is the Grand National.

So, 2 runners, 2 good winners and plans for Cheltenham and Aintree forming...not a bad day at the office!

Jan 10th 2006

5th at Sedgefield. see Club page.

JAN 1st 2006 >>NINE DE SIVOLA WINS >>>AGAIN!:

Nine De Sivola got 2006 off to a fantastic start by winning at Catterick! Great performance under a double penalty. Three wins from 5 runs now. Very exciting times ahead with this lad!

Boxing Day

Haut De Gamme ran in the 2m7f handicap hurdle at Wetherby. He ran well for a long way & looked set to take a hand in the finish before tiring two out. He finished 6th. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but perhaps this race was too soon after his Haydock race. In any case, he is 100% sound and will have a short break before we get him back chasing. Grand National still on the agenda!

NOBODYS PERFECT (FMRC horse) ran another great race to finish 3rd. The trip may have been just too short for her but she performed well for the lucky club members present. Short rest then back in a mares only race.

Saturday 17th Dec

Haut De Gamme ran in the totescoop 6 handicap hurdle  at Haydock. This was a good quality race won in very fine style by Jazz D'Estruval. Haut De Gamme ran well and got yet another placed run , this time 3rd.Considering that the ground was tacky - his worst surface- this was a very creditable run. He jumped well in the main but made one mistake at third last.

6th Dec

BOHEMIAN BROOK ran satisfactorily at Sedgefield .Alan Dempsey was pleased with the way he settled and jumped and once again, he stayed on at the end of the race. He is gaining valuable experience and will be seen to good effect when stepped up in trip.

NOBODYS PERFECT (FMRC horse) ran a blinder to finish 2nd at 25/1. Given different tactics, running from the front, she enjoyed herself and was well clear of all bar one. She will certainly win races and it was good to see her bounce back to form.Pictures also available on Grossick Racing site.

3rd Dec

What a fantastic day!

NINE DE SIVOLA WON AGAIN AT WETHERBY !

NINE DE SIVOLA bounced back to form at Wetherby. He won the 2m7f race going away by 7 lengths and looks a very, very exciting prospect. Well done Sylvester!

DEJA VU ran an absolute blinder to finish 2nd at Haydock. Jumping well throughout he went to the front at the last but was just outstayed by the 11/8 fav who was carrying a stone less. Fantastic effort...well done Deja!

Thurs  24 November

BOHEMIAN BROOK ran rather below par at Carlisle today. He jumped well again but was outpaced and found little. In truth, this trip would be a bit sharp for him but we had hoped for more. He is safe and sound and will race again shortly.

Tues 22 November

NINE DE SIVOLA ran at Sedgefield today. By the time of our race, the fog that had threatened the meeting had descended again and three quarters of the race was completely out of sight! Unfortunately, NDS went into the fog on far side and didn't come out. He did eventually return having been pulled up. Keith had feared an injury but he seems sound enough now and will fight another day. Perhaps he didn't like the fog!!

Nov 20th

HAUT DE GAMME ran a great race at Aintree on Nov 20th in the Becher Chase, finishing 5th beaten under 3 lengths. Keith rode the horse patiently allowing his fantastic jumping to creep him into the race. He was just caught out for speed after the last and finished 5th in a blanket finish. Very exciting and very pleasing that he seemed to get the trip ok. Dreams of the JOHN SMITHS GRAND NATIONAL are now  realistic and so who knows...

Nov 14th

NOBODYS PERFECT (FMRC Horse) ran poorly at Folkestone today. She obviously didn't enjoy the ground again but she has returned safe and sound..

Nov 12th

NINE DE SIVOLA WON AT WETHERBY !

Given a fantastic ride by PJ McDonald, NDS travelled sweetly, jumped superbly and won by a comfortable 6 lengths. A fabulous experience for the owners. Ferdy was delighted with the horse and feels sure that we will win more with him. Today, though, was fantastic and plenty of the owners had a few quid on at 4/1 as we had fancied him to improve upon his third place last time.

Well done NDS!

TIMEFORM were suitably impressed:

""NINE DE SIVOLA (FR), all the sharper for his Carlisle run, returned to the pick of his French form on his second outing for current connections, scoring pretty readily, leading going well 2 out and soon in control; there's probably more to come, particularly if his stable continues in its current vein of form""

NOBODYS PERFECT (FMRC HORSE) runs Mon 14th at  at Folkestone. Members please contact me for badges.

Nov 11th

HAS SCORED ran at Newcastle today on his seasonal debut. He ran really well. Over an inadequate trip he got a little outpaced and found wanting for sharpness on his first run for 245 days. However, he displayed his best assets, jumping and stamina, to keep plugging on into 4th place. A very satisfactory start and he will go to Bangor next for a more suitable 3m6f race. He could be an Eider chase type in the long term. Richie McGrath was pleased with him, particularly his safe jumping.

Nov 8th

BOHEMIAN BROOK made his racecourse debut at Sedgefield today. finishing a fantastic 4th! Despite running green, over a trip at least a half mile short of his distance Bo ran a blinder. He will improve tremendously for the experience but this run was a very encouraging start. He jumped well and stayed on strongly over the last half mile to improve his position from 10th to 4th. Well done Bo!

Oct 30th

NINE DE SIVOLA (3rd at Carlisle) - Made a fantastic start to his UK career at Carlisle today. Travelling sweetly on very heavy ground, he looked the likely winner at the last. His lack of a recent run told on the run in and he was 3rd, beaten less than 3 lengths. A great introduction, well handled by Tom Dreaper and a big thrill for the partners present! Pictures on Nine de Sivola page.

CLEMAX (4th at Carlisle)  Not to be outdone by Nine de Sivola, Clemax performed very well too. (Carlisle 30th Oct). He enjoyed the heavy going and was part of a small group that broke well clear of the remainder. He tired on the steep run in but still finished a very creditable 4th.Keith Mercer was very happy with the horse and confirmed that he just ran out of steam on his seasonal debut. Well done Clemax! Pictures on Clemax page.

Great introductions and more to come from these two!

29 Oct 2005

HAUT DE GAMME (2nd at Wetherby)   ran a fantastic race over hurdles today to finish 2nd at Wetherby. Patiently ridden he crept into the race on the final bend and was just held off. A great run and a sound prep for the Becher Chase at Aintree 20 Nov...and we might try to nick a handicap hurdle at Kelso on Saturday 5 Nov!

28 Oct 2005

NOBODYS PERFECT  hated the tacky Uttoxeter ground and came home in her own time. She will also strip much fitter next time.

26 Oct 2005  -

DEJA VU (2nd at Sedgefield)  Ran at  SEDGEFIELD 26th OCT. What can we say, he had the race won at the last before junking right and losing a couple of lengths. He rallied again but just failed to get up. Another placed run at Sedgey where his record reads 55113432!

Ferdy's stable and DPRP are featured in the October issue of RACING AHEAD magazine out now and also in the 2005 JUMPING PROSPECTS out now.

27 Sep 2005

Deja Vu ran a fantastic first race on his chase debut, finishing a close up 3rd at Sedgefield. Very exciting times ahead with this fella!

"DEJA VU (IRE) made an encouraging start over fences after a 5-month break, jumping soundly and still in with a chance 3 out, beaten only by 2 well-above-average types for this course, albeit in receipt of weight from both of them; raced previously on good going or softer, he might not even have to improve on this form to win an ordinary maiden in the North" Timeform
